The Dicastery for Culture and Education works for the development of people’s human values in the context of Christian anthropology, contributing to the full realization of Christian discipleship.
The Dicastery comprises the Section for Culture, dedicated to the promotion of culture, pastoral activity and the enhancement of cultural heritage, and the Section for Education, which develops the fundamental principles of education regarding schools, Catholic and ecclesiastical institutes of higher education and research, and is competent for hierarchical recourses in these matters.
The Section for Culture promotes and supports relations between the Holy See and the world of culture. It responds to the many issues therein with a preference for dialogue as an indispensable tool of true encounter, mutual interaction and enrichment, in order that different cultures may become ever more open to the Gospel, as likewise the Christian faith towards them, and that lovers of the arts, literature, the sciences, technology and sport may know and feel recognized by the Church as people at the service of a sincere search for the true, the good and the beautiful.
Coordination
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Enzo Fortunato, O.F.M. Conv., former director of the Press Office of the Holy Convent in Assisi, as coordinator of the World Day of Children and director of Communication of the Papal Basilica of Saint Peter in the Vatican, together with Aldo Cagnoli, Vice Coordinator of the event.

Community of Sant'Egidio
The Community of Sant’Egidio was born in Rome in 1968 on the initiative of Andrea Riccardi, then a high school student. Today the Community is known throughout the world for its social and religious commitment, its work for peace and dialogue, its campaigns, such as health rights in Africa, and for the abolition of the death penalty.
FIGC
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC), founded in 1898, recognized by FIFA in 1905, and founding member of UEFA in 1954, is the association of sports clubs and sports organizations pursuing the aim of practicing the game of football in Italy.
